Paris Photo 2014: Diary of a collector

Preview

We asked a few collectors to keep a journal of their adventures at Paris Photo 2014. One of them was Aurélie Tisseyre, a photo collector and director of development for L’Oeil de la Photographie, who shared with us her favorite pictures and the series she spotted at the Grand Palais this past week. Part of Aurélie’s collection can be seen on her site holdupphoto.com.

There’s little to no street photography at Paris Photo this year, apart from a few Robert Frank pictures at Greenberg. It was the more abstract works that intrigued me, like these 1938 photograms and the abstract compositions on baryta paper by the Iranian artist Shirana Shahbazi, which were first seen at the 2003 Venice Biennale. Also of note are the complete series, like the 33 vintage Araki prints, enlarged portraits by Trent Park taken at stoplights, and this super July day lived and experienced by Stephen Shore.
