NOOR celebrates 5-year anniversary

Preview

Five years ago at Visa pour l’Image, Stanley Greene and a few of his followers launched Noor. An agency, foundation and artists collective, Noor offers an alternative to photojournalists in these difficult economic times. A decrease in financing results bring a drop in quality, and Nina Berman, Pep Bonet, Andrea Bruce, Alixandra Fazzina, Stanley Greene, Yuri Kozyrev, Kadir van Lohuizen, Jon Lowenstein and Francesco Zizola won’t have it. In addition to their long-term investigative projects, they began an educational program in partnership with Nikon, in order to support independent documentary film and photography.

A few cities and several World Press awards later, Noor celebrates its past and upcoming experiences and comes together for a cocktail to announce the release of a book in partnership with Blurb, and a new site. For five years, each member went his or her own way, like the spectacular 40-week and 25,000k journey that Kadir van Lohuizen took from Chile to Alaska, following immigration. Another remarkable project is war photographer Stanley Greene’s report on computer recycling across the world, a must-see exhibition at the Église des Dominicains.
