MoP Denver 2013 –MCA Denver

Preview

The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (MCA Denver) is a non-collecting institution acting as an incubator for art and ideas, artistic exchange and dialogue. In 2007, eleven years after its founding, the museum opened a new David Adjaye-designed building in Lower Downtown Denver. MCA Denver presents exhibitions featuring local, national and international artists, as well as offering ongoing public programs that explore the relationship between art and contemporary life.

Coming along with the Lucas Foglia’s show, the following artists are in view during the Month of Photography :

Mario Zoots, Collages
Mario Zoots appropriates imagery from a wide range of sources such as 1950s and 60s cult films and sci-fi novels to create a series of photo-based collages. Collages will be presented in the Open Shelf Library

Paolo Cirio, Street Ghosts
To create Street Ghosts, Paolo Cirio uses life-sized pictures of people found on Google’s Street View, posting them to the exterior of buildings at the same spot where they were taken. Street Ghosts will be presented on the exterior of MCA Denver’s David Adjaye-designed building.

Pablo Gimenez Zapiola, Transitions in life
Pablo Gimenez Zapiola’s Transitions in life is an animation video composed from a sequence of long exposure photographs of a single subject and then looped, giving the animation the effect of appearing infinite and endless. Transitions in life will be presented in MCA Denver’s elevator.

Adriana Ramić, Craigslist-Assisted Readymade
For Craigslist-Assisted Readymade, artist Adriana Ramić wrote an algorithm to comb Craigslist for images and then display them three at a time in an endless rotation, changing every eight seconds. Craigslist-Assisted Readymade will be presented on the computers in the Open Shelf Library.
