A press release from the Ministry of Culture:

As of September 9, 2021, Fannie Escoulen will join the Visual Arts Delegation within the General Directorate of Artistic Creation of the Ministry of Culture, as Head of the Department of Photography. She succeeds Marion Hislen.

A graduate of the National School of Photography in Arles, Fannie Escoulen has been actively involved for more than twenty years in the field of photography – both with its authors, its audiences and its ecosystem. Her career has been built at the crossroads of different professional photographic environments, both private and institutional. In charge of exhibitions and public commissions at the Mediterranean center of Photography in Bastia, she then headed the cultural department of the Métis photographic agency, she then was responsible for the development of exhibitions for Magnum Photos agency. In 2006, she co-founded LE BAL, of which she was joint director until 2014. She subsequently pursued her projects as an independent curator and has signed numerous exhibitions, in France and abroad.

She participated in the creation of the Elles X Paris Photo course in 2018, a partnership between the Ministry of Culture and Paris Photo, of which she was curator.
