The Board of Trustees of the International Center of Photography announced today that it has selected Mark Robbins, Dean of the School of Architecture and Senior Advisor on Architecture and Urban Initiatives at Syracuse University, to be the next Executive Director of the New York institution. Robbins will replace Willis E. “Buzz” Hartshorn and assume his duties as Executive Director July 1, 2012. Over the past 25 years, the work of Mark Robbins has spanned cultural, academic, and governmental settings. As a curator, national arts administrator, professor, and dean, he has focused on broadening awareness of and support for contemporary art and design. One can be suprised by this appointment but however: the major issues that will face M. Robbins will concern the finances and future location of ICP.
