The 2017 edition of the Lianzhou Photo Festival, held from December 2, 2017 to January 2, 2018, mainly focused on the selfie and looked at how social networks have changed photography. Among the works presented were Liu Yujia’s work looking into the fragility and resilience of industrial areas built and destroyed by humans; Murong Tuoxie’s series Mountains May Depart, photographs of rural China; Reagan Louie’s Chinese Dream, a dramatic portrayal of the country’s profound transformation during the past 40 years; and Zhang Jin’s blue and abstract tableaux.
