We continue and present the projects selected by Les Nuits Photographiques 2015 awards, which took place on September 19th. Today is about “Maria“, directed by Nathalie Dallies, french photographer.
This filmed portrait is the continuation of a photographic series.
A swaying occurs: to capture the complexity and uniqueness of the character, the passage from the photographic medium to that of video imposes itself. Waiting for the moment to activate the camera, and the release of Maria’s body, making immediate continuity prolonged.
This shot-sequence of an “image-time” leaves room for the ennui, the abandonment, to an inner dimension, of the character of which we are witnesses.
The patience of photography, to coin the expression of Jean-Christophe Bailly, expresses itself by suspending the subject and time by the stretching of the pose, the dilation of the still image.
