We continue and present the projects selected by Les Nuits Photographiques 2015 awards, which took place on September 19th. Today is about “Scrapbook 2“, directed by Esther Martínez Rey, spanish photographer.
I ‘wrote’ this diary over 18 years using images cut out from newspapers and magazines that I glued into my notebook. They express my state of mind more than cultural references.
I have loved magazines since I was a child, they were like an open window in my teens, showing me the lighter side of life, as well as describing clearly my own worries and sadness.
This work refers to all the places I’ve lived, all the people I’ve known and all the thoughts, feelings, energies, joys and sorrows that those experiences gave me through the years.
I made it because I can’t write, and as a reflection of the lives I’ve lived, and those I’ve never lived.
