Presented in conjunction with the exhibition “The World of Louis Stettner” at the Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles, “Across Two Worlds” the Hulett Collection offers an intimate look at the exploration of Louis Stettner’s life on both sides of the Atlantic.
Drawing inspiration from his time in New York and Paris, this temporary exhibition brings together photographs that capture the everyday: moments of human connection, resilience, and grace, seen through Stettner’s eyes.
“Across Two Worlds” reflects Stettner’s ability to combine the candid energy of American street photography with the lyrical sensibility of the French humanist tradition. These works, spanning decades and geographies, celebrate the power of photography to find beauty and meaning in the ordinary. The exhibition coincides with the release of the new monographs Photo Poche and Photo File devoted to Stettner’s work, as well as the major retrospective soon to be presented in Arles. Together, they offer a season of rediscovery of one of the most profound and influential voices in photography.
