La Fabrique des Savoirs : Wildlife Photographer of the Year

Preview

Discover the 100 most beautiful nature photographs from the famous international competition in a dialogue with the taxidermy collections of metropolitan museums.

Once again this year, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition was a huge success with the participation of more than 48,000 photographers of all ages, amateurs and professionals from over 100 different countries. La Fabrique des Savoirs presents the results of the competition in the form of an exhibition of the 100 most beautiful photographs selected by an international jury on the basis of precise criteria. Creativity, originality and technical quality are thus mingled with the eyes of artists who through their work reveal their vision and interpretation of nature. They all invite us to discover its beauty and diversity, but also its great fragility.

For this new edition, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition is enriched by the dialogue between the award-winning photographs and the collections of naturalized specimens from the Fabrique des savoirs in Elbeuf sur Seine and the Muséum d’Histoire naturelle in Rouen. Some specimens correspond to animals photographed, for example, the puma or the marmot. Both heritage and sources of scientific data, stuffed specimens are of great interest for the study and understanding of species and their environment. Testimonies of the diversity of the animal world, they contribute to its knowledge and therefore to its preservation, like the exceptional images of the Wildlife competition which aim to raise public awareness on the threats weighing on the biodiversity of our planet.
