Sandrine Rousseau draws inspiration from the places she has lived China and England as well as from her stays in Morocco, her family’s adopted homeland for three generations. She uses her camera as a tool for the simultaneous exploration of the external world and her own inner universe.
In the series that make up Passages, Sandrine Rousseau transports us into the meanders of a generational memory… a palette whose colors arise from remembrance, reconstruction, the retelling of family history, scents captured during her stays in Morocco, the sensations that precede the click of the shutter… Sandrine Rousseau thus offers the viewer something like a material for the revival of their own memories.
