The Quiet Impossibility
The Quiet Impossibility is a photographic series inspired by the visual language of René Magritte and the tradition of surrealism. Through symbolic objects, obscured identities, mirrors and transformed figures, the work explores perception, identity and the fragile boundary between reality and imagination.
Rather than recreating specific paintings, the series seeks to enter into a dialogue with Magritte’s ideas through contemporary photography. Familiar objects are displaced from their ordinary context and reassembled into poetic scenes where certainty dissolves and meaning remains open.
Central to the series is the recurring image of a Black Samovar – a personal symbol that has accompanied my photographic practice for several years and gradually become part of my artistic identity. By introducing this object into a surrealist world of clouds, mirrors, concealed faces and impossible encounters, I create a dialogue between historical visual references and my own evolving visual language.
Throughout the series, the Black Samovar gradually shifts from an object into a surrogate presence, blurring the distinction between identity and symbol. The work invites viewers into a space where the impossible appears calm, familiar and strangely believable.
