For Lighting the candles, after reconnecting with a friend who’d relocated from Brooklyn to her childhood home of Paris, Gail visited her new home to create and capture an intimate moment during Hanukkah. A place that was once her friend’s childhood home, she had very little connection to the city and her neighbors until the photographic collaboration. As a result of the project, Gail had the opportunity to turn strangers into friends and tell an inspiring story.
Gail Albert Halaban is a photographer known for her intimate exploration of human relationships and urban life. Her series Out My Window offers glimpses into the private lives of individuals and families through apartment windows in cities like New York and Paris, reflecting themes of connection, privacy, and perception.
