In Memoriam : Agnès Grégoire (1962-2023)

Preview

Agnès Grégoire, the director of PHOTO magazine, is dead.
Christine Terneau, the secretary of Roger Thérond, legendary boss of Match and PHOTO, gave us this beautiful text.

1988
Agnès arrived at  Photo Magazine after the departure of Jean-Jacques Naudet for the United States. The newspaper was at the time at 65 Champs Elysées.
The PHOTO offices were located in a narrow corridor between the magazine 20 ans and Cuisine Magazine. Paris Match was located on the 5th floor where the office of Roger Thérond, boss of Match and shareholder Director of Photo, was located. To keep an eye on the editorial staff of PHOTO, at the request of Roger Thérond they were moved to the 5th floor, two offices further away from mine and Roger’s. This is where the Visa pour l’Image festival was born in 1989, directed at the time by Michel Decron and Jean-François Leroy.

Naudet having left, Agnès took charge of the magazine and never let go of it.
I didn’t see her often in the hallways, she worked hard. With Eric Colmet Daage the artistic director, Régine Allain the secretary, Michel Decron the editor-in-chief and Nicole Lucas journalist. Agnès coordinated all of this with professionalism.

The departure of the magazine to Levallois reinforced the indispensable presence of Agnès within the newspaper. Christophe Hermenier arrived as a layout designer and these two found each other and had two children while continuing the newspaper which was taken over by the Harcourt studio where Agnès was more than present.

She was pretty and very expressive. I can still hear her voice when she spoke, an airy and very soft voice.
I think very much of Christophe and Agnès’s grown-up daughter, Louise.
