“Hydra” was born from Jean Noël de Soye’s attraction to the Mediterranean light, reminiscent of his childhood spent in Marseille. Discovering the Greek island by chance during a holiday, he was immediately captivated by the rocky landscapes plunging into the Aegean Sea. What he thought was a vacation spot gradually transformed into a field of exploration, fully embodying Henri Cartier-Bresson’s definition of photography: “Photography is, for me, the spontaneous impulse of perpetual visual attention, which captures the moment and its eternity.”
