The Galerie Ithaque is hosting an exhibition of Peggy Anderson pictures entitled Recipes for Remembering. The gallery presents it as follows:
Through photographic constructions combining objects, often culinary, family archives, and printing rituals, Peggy Anderson explores the making of memories and the way myths inherited or invented shape our narratives.
She considers her process a form of collage, where images influence each other across time, materials, and generations.
Using negatives that she cut and assembled, she created a new series of photographic collages during her latest residency in Ithaca. Her prints are an introspective journey, punctuated by reveries and the absurd. Drawn to the tension between control and unpredictability, she simmers ritual, memory, and photographic processes in the same dark place: the darkroom. It’s a place where silver reacts to light like dough reacts to the heat of the oven. Slowly, mysteriously, with a touch of magic.
