A family story
“A Family Story” is a journey through time, a return to one’s roots, a need to reconnect with the past and breathe in its memories, to touch its textures, to embrace its atmosphere, to listen to its silences and whispers, to caress its shadows and light, and to build a bridge between dream, vision, and reality.
This trip to India, among all my others over time, was draped in the colors of joy and carefree abandon. It also awakened the happy memories of childhood, rekindled the unbreakable bonds of yesteryear between generations, and celebrated everyday objects. Paradoxically, it wasn’t the shimmering colors of Gujarat that captivated my photographic vision, but rather the black and the white, more intimate because they emphasize the timeless and convey raw emotions.
This family story is not mine, but that of my husband, translated and transposed into images: in this visual journey, I wanted to experience the anecdotes and stories that he never stopped telling me and thus could prolong a story, his, and mine too in a certain way.
