For children who like to go to the circus, the moment they enter the chapiteau is a moment of ecstasy, and emotion. But behind the curtain, children also exist… the sons and daughters of the performers. Some are also performers since they were three years old.
In January 2014 I began a circus project where I would visit all the existing circuses in Portugal. There are over 30 circuses in Portugal, operating all year going on a weekly basis from small town to small town. During this period I visited all these circuses more than 100 times.
I established a very close relationship with most of the artists who gave me the privilege of seeing how they live and how their children live and deal being a child of the circus.
This is an on-going project that has already been awarded and presented in exhibitions.
