This is the most touching email we received this week.
It’s from Valentine de Villemeur and it announces her book: “I’ve Always Wanted to Be a Mom,” published by Four Eyes Editions and scheduled for release in May 2025. She writes :
There are stories that can only be told in images, and “I’ve always wanted to be a mom” is mine. Motherhood is not such an easy journey. My story is proof of that. This series explores the hopes, doubts, and realities of a journey to motherhood. Driven by my own experience, I take you through the ups and downs of a path strewn with pitfalls, between the joy of an anticipated pregnancy and the unspeakable pain of loss, to the fragile hope of a new attempt through IVF PGD. By capturing the invisible, I seek to show a subject that is still too little discussed: assisted reproduction. This work, photographed on film, captures the depth of the emotions that mark this journey. Each image tells a story, between strength and fragility, carried by the deep desire to become a parent.
“I’ve Always Wanted to Be a Mom” is undoubtedly my most personal project. A moving series that explores the desire for motherhood in all its forms. This project will take the form of a book to be published in spring 2025 by Four Eyes Publishing. A work that will touch the hearts of those who know this path or wish to understand it.
