FotoFest: International Discoveries VI

Preview

This year, FotoFest begins with a new exhibition of international artists. International Discoveries VI highlights 13 artists from Asia, Latin America and the United States, whose works have been “discovered” by FotoFest curators at international and U.S. photography events and artist studios across the globe.

The presentation of this popular exhibition series is on view since January 19, 2017 at Silver Street Studios in Houston’s Washington Avenue Arts District, USA. Weekends are accompanied by a series of public and private events including public conversations and tours by the visiting artists, special artist tours for university and grade school students, visits by artists to school classrooms, portfolio reviews by the artists with photography students, meetings with Houston arts organizations and individual collectors.

The artists featured in International Discoveries VI come from five countries and the United States. Brazil: Ilana Bar, Fábio Del Re, Tuany Lima, Eustáquio Neves. China: Dai Xiang, Qian Jin, Zhang Kechun. Cuba: Renè Peña. Korea: Jung A. Kim, Hyunmoo Le. Mexico: Paola Dávila, Marcel Rius. USA: Tad Beck

The International Discoveries exhibition series highlights FotoFest’s core principles of international exchange and discovery. Through the exhibition and its associated programs, FotoFest creates opportunities for the artists and Houston’s audiences. FotoFest acts as a global and local platform, where artists and audiences can interact directly and meaningfully,“ said Steven Evans, FotoFest Executive Director and one of the exhibition’s curators.
