This idea came about one drunken night. A friend kept taking pictures of me. He says I’m photogenic. I grabbed a nearby newspaper and said, ‘If you’re going to take so many pictures, you might as well do something original.. » I tapped into that and photographed my photographer friends, amateurs for the most part. Then, when I met people at openings, book signings and exhibitions, I began to enrich it with portraits of famous photographers, with no motive save the pleasure the act itself. The simulated kidnapping must follow certain rules: the « target » is never informed, lest we risk being forbidden a portrait: that’s the game.
