Migrations
“Migrations” is a visual and plastic project on the cyclical flows that inhabit biological and social bodies. An artistic experience that studies, in a broad sense, all phenomena of displacement and transformation of the living. Migrations are here a condition of existence and a form of evolution of the living, in search of new functionalities, anchored in a better way to a world that is always recomposed.
Biology and politics do not share the same laws; displacements of non-humans (plants and animals) and those of humans are difficult to assimilate. And yet these passages share the same destiny goal: survival. Whether of the species or of the spirit. If life is a set of emotional and organic flows, then life is a permanent migration. Just as migrations are lives that are – constantly – intermingling, escape, reproduce, root, detach, reject, and love each other. With the only paradoxical goal – as only humanity knows how to be – to continue not to disappear and to stop in order to build their dreams.
Every living migration is only the temporal expression of a contingency. Nor is there a living migrant species as such, there is no migrating human population in itself.
Opening on Friday, October 4 octobre in the presence of the artist who will sign her new book: Migrations at Editions Witch, Mémoires funambules
Biography
Francesca DI BONITO (1978, Italy), lives and works in Paris since 2004. She draws from her artistic studies and her experience of reporting the subject matter of a hybrid and protean work. As a visual artist, she questions societal dynamics at the center of contemporary issues. The photographic medium is the narrative material around which evolve and build its plastic narratives. Francesca Di Bonito borrows from the media repertoire her tools and the news, to blend them into the artistic experience. A metamorphosis of information takes place, by the diversion of the documentary visual and it’s reading. Artifacts and simulacra, incongruous rapprochement of opposites, the stories of Francesca Di Bonito, on the borderline between reality and fiction, carry the social and the political.
