Eva by Charlotte Rampling

A tall, shy woman, she becomes strong and confident when she slips behind the camera. This is her eye, her way of seeing into the world.

She seems happy when gazing on beauty.

With a sense of detached grace, she observes her subjects, her chosen ones.

There is no trickery here, Eva’s vision is pure as light and her photographs are light and pure.

Her subjects become mirrors through which she can contemplate the enigma, the illusion of beauty.

Creativity lets us see through to the other side.

The other side of paradise…

We became friends.

After Rome and The Night Porter it was Paris and Le Balzar, long lunches talking and thinking together.

She came to my home and I languished in sweet, sultry poses while she discovered her way into my world.

In Eva’a photographs there is a moving sense of the delicate nature of humankind.

As if there was no other way for her to represent the world without being shaken or harmed.

Then we lost touch. She left Italy and changed her life.

And one day, a few months ago, she came back with this Book.
