Editions ARP2 : Sophie Aaron : Synchronicités

Preview

Editions ARP2 presents Synchonicités, the book by Sophie Aaron. In his preface, Alain D’Hooghe writes:

With the first image, I begin to smile.
A young blonde woman stands in front of a painting by Gerhard Richter in a museum in Baden-Baden. She wears a jacket or a coat (the framing does not allow us to specify) whose vertical and multicolored lines resemble those that make up the painting she admires.
Could this be an unprecedented form of mimicry, of symbiosis between what is watched and the viewer, between art and human? Could it be too good to be true?
For several years and now over the following pages, Sophie Aaron has been working to show us the opposite. Sophie leads a tidy life, concerned about the happiness of her loved ones. She travels a lot, is off here, there and everywhere, vanishing like a wisp of smoke. I only know of one of her vice, but a major one. Sophie is addicted to art. She always wants more, always asks for more. By force of circumstance, museums, galleries and fairs constitute so many shooting rooms…
