This decade is the continuation of the search of what makes a good image, particularly in documentary photography. Putting aside the obvious – what is one trying to say -, the challenge is how to say it.
Our tools are pretty simple and straightforward : composition and light. Musicians have seven notes and time, we have only two and also time. We all live surrounded by a visual chaos and the talent resides in isolating what is meaningful to tell the story. Organizing the disparate elements in the frame is a balancing act with its own rules, that sometimes need to be broken. Light is the mother of all images and using it to our advantage a conscious decision that should be forever present. All art is wanting to say something in myriad ways. We, as photographers, are no different.
The arch of my work, if there is one, has been trying to explore this language, from documenting events and facts to expressing reality emphasizing atmospheres, moments and feelings.
