Deauville 2016 : Bernard Descamps

Preview

A master of black-and-white photography, Bernard Descamps loves the undulation of beaches and deserts, bird-filled skies, and  seaside light. With an uncommon sense for framing and composition, Bernard Descamps has used the square format, which refines and recomposes African landscapes, the streets of Tokyo, and northern beaches in winter, since the 1980s.

In Deauville, he assumes his favorite role, that of an itinerant photographer who travels on foot and wanders around the coastal town, its beaches, its empty and populated spaces, day in day out. This is how he brings to light all its shades and nuances.
