The “Jungles” series is an exploration of nature as raw material. Olivia Lavergne imagines and makes the territory hers. Her way of seeing things transforms nature which becomes a photographic painting. The choice of dense and luxuriant colors – ochre, green, blue – standardized in the painting of landscapes, the light device – the chiaroscuro – strengthens the unusual aspect of the scenes. This series is about the exploration of a territory, an esthetic redefining of the landscape. Olivia Lavergne is interested in the green and luxuriant vegetation, the dense forest, with the jungle as a starting point.

After studying humanities, Olivia Lavergne turned to photography and since 2003 started to work as an artist. In 2006-2007 she went to Paris VIII university and to the Ecole nationale des arts décoratifs and received a Master in Photography then a Master in Contemporary Art. In her pictures, the dramatization flirts with reality since her first works exhibited in 2010 during the Voies off at the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie. Olivia has traveled to Berlin, New York, Guyana. Her research on architecture, the composition of the picture and the impact of light gets her to explore in a more personal and intimate way a tropical and dense vegetation, a luxuriant forest.
