Christopher Makos : 40 years later

Preview

This collection of 18 silver gelatin prints was commissioned by Lee Caplin, who was the filmmaker on the Warhol trip to Hong Kong. I mention Hong Kong, because the trip was initially organized by the art dealer Jeffrey Deteich for Warhol to show his portraits of Prince Charles and Lady Di in Hong Kong at the opening of the “I Club” in Hong Kong. After the opening of the event, Jeffrey announced to us, that he had organized a special vip trip to Beijing, the (18) 30”x 40” silver gelatin prints are an edit of some of the special moments that we all shared for our visit in Beijing. The image of the itinerary really explains the intense tour schedule.

Recently Lee Caplin approached me to organize the exhibition, as a sort of commemorative remembrance of the trip we all shared exactly 40 years ago. With the expertise of David Chang, Frost Professor of Art and Chair of the Department of Art and Art History at FIU (Florida International University) we all worked together to make this exhibition possible.
