Canada : ZOOM Photo Festival 2014 Le collectif du Festival

Preview

Every year, the festival offers emerging talent the opportunity to be exhibited. For this edition, I had the pleasure of being invited with four other Quebec photographers.

Photographer Adrienne Surprenant has spent the last months documenting the impact of the upcoming construction of a canal on the local agricultural community, which is ill-informed and concerned by its consequences on their future.

During a visit to Shanghai, Alexis Aubin became interested in how the city has changed. This growing economic metropolis is destroying working- and middle- class neighborhoods to make way for larger projects, limiting the purchasing power of workers.

Students in Moscow opened their door to the Russia-based photojournalist Pascal Dumont. Over the course of several months, he captured moments in the lives in these unhealthy, cramped projects, where students of all backgrounds form communities.

Fabrice Tremblay has managed to transform wedding photography into reporting, here documenting the tradition of Vietnamese marriages.
