CAMERA WORK Gallery : Kate Moss

On the occasion of the 50th birthday of British fashion icon Kate Moss on January 16, 2024, CAMERA WORK Gallery is presenting a group exhibition starting January 13, 2024, comprising over 30 of the most important photographic works featuring the supermodel.

Kate Moss has defined style and beauty ideals for years, and established a new image of women in fashion and on the catwalk. The most renowned photographic artists such as Ellen von Unwerth, Patrick Demarchelier, and Herb Ribs, who have accompanied Moss over the years, have not only documented her aesthetic legacy, but have also helped to push the boundaries of fashion photography. Each portrait tells its own story and captures the essence of the iconic Moss in different contexts — be it during elaborate photo productions or in more intimate, personal moments.

The group exhibition therefore goes beyond a general retrospective; it includes world-famous classical and contemporary works by Albert Watson, Steven Klein, and Terry O’Neill as well as previously unpublished portraits of renowned artists from three decades. Furthermore, it traces a multifaceted path from the groundbreaking beginnings in the 1990s to Kate Moss’s timeless presence in the present. This social relevance is also reflected in the primary and secondary art market. For example, an auction dedicated to Kate Moss at London auction house Christie’s achieved a record result of 2.7 million US dollars in 2013.

The exhibition shows over 30 works by renowned photo artists who have helped shape Kate Moss’s career — including Bryan Adams, Anton Corbijn, Patrick Demarchelier, Arthur Elgort, Dominique Issermann, Steven Klein, Chris Levine, Terry O’Neill, Rankin, Herb Ribs, Paolo Roversi, Ellen von Unwerth, and Albert Watson.
