An exhibition by Swiss photographer Daniel Pittet entitled “Mutanti” will be held until November 8th, 2026, on Brissago Island in Ticino, Italian-speaking Switzerland.
It is presented as follows:
Photographer Daniel Pittet’s works were created from images taken on the island: the Mutants, revealed to the public by the photographer’s lens and creativity, are all imaginary organisms born on this island.
The Latin names in the captions are the names of the plant species that gave rise to the mutant organism you are seeing.
Next to the Latin name, you will also find a QR code.
By framing it with your phone’s camera, you can see where on the island the original photo was taken, before the play of symmetry transformed it into a stunning new organism.
You may be able to find the original plant, but vegetation changes with the seasons and may no longer have the same morphological characteristics as when the photo was taken.
