Bamako 2011 –Charles Okereke

The images were shot both from a conceptual and from a documentary approach. As can be observed, the idea was to glamorise the images through close-up shots, ironically selling the products on face value. But on closer examination they expose metaphorically the effects of the mania of consumerism by the populace on the one hand, and the quest for extreme profit-making on the part of the manufacturers, and also the reciprocal consequences on the environment.
