Marc Ávila Català E 1992
Marc Avila Catala’s work draws its inspiration from existentialism. Traversing his most emblematic series Homo et Natura, Cúmul, Ismus and (16) Psyche reveals a connected practice that explores a broad territory capable of capturing the ambiguity and latent tensions that surround us. The artist likes to feel like a receiver: he tunes and transmutes perception into something sensitive. He is drawn to transcribing ideas that he gradually shapes until they crystallize into visual and tangible formats.
Through active contemplation, his artistic practice allows him to understand and reflect on the time and space he inhabits. His gaze probes the semantic sedimentation of what we call reality, generating an aesthetic experience that opens an organic, porous dialogue, nourished by the dilemmas and crossroads that traverse him. The artwork thus becomes an autonomous device that matures as it is observed and, as a catalyst, prompts questions.
Along this path, the image is not a definitive result but the diagnosis or testimony of a living, open process in constant redefinition. He is interested in exploring that liminal, deep, and silent space where visual representation does not seek to close meaning but to open it—through concept and material.
The works on display are analog photographs, unique pieces intervened with mixed techniques.
