Armory Show 2012 Edward Tyler Nahem Fine Art

Preview

The exhibition of contemporary artist Andres Serrano at the Edward Tyler Nahem Gallery’s Armory space is a veritable event. His photographs, taken from a new series entitled Anarchy, represent human archetypes in fictional (yet somehow familiar) scenes of rebellion. Produced using toys and action figures that appear in silhouette, their evocation of the children’s world both touches and provokes. Notable are a a celebrity-like Christ, a criminal hanging from the gallows, and a young girl pointing a gun at someone we can easily imagine wearing a KKK mask. The line between the conscious and unconscious is here finer than ever.
