Arles – “My Eyes, Patient Objects – MYOP, 20 Years of a Moving History”

Preview

The French collective presents a rich program for its 20th anniversary with an exhibition at the Associated Program of the Rencontres d’Arles – in a new location they are pioneering -, a book published by Gallimard/Hoëbeke, and an evening at the Roman Theater of Arles.

For this anniversary, and contrary to their usual practice, the MYOP photographers have decided to give their photographs to outsiders. Fannie Escoulen (curator) and Cyril Delhomme (scenography) have created a manifesto exhibition spanning nearly 400m2 at the Douches Municipales. Catherine Barluet and Pierre Hourquet (artistic direction) designed and laid out the 520 pages of their anniversary book. Laurent Gaudé (director and writer) took charge of their screening evening at the Roman Theater, accompanied by Oan Kim (music).

Of course, the “MYOP touch” will be found in each of these three photographic projects the trajectory and distribution of images has always been a fundamental theme for this organization. Each proposal was thus patiently constructed through discussion and coherence. Throughout these three formats, the aim will be to give substance to the collective work, with the wager that the members of MYOP share photographic commitments.
