Christian Caujolle‘s favorite: This is a sublime shop for cameras.
Its name: La Valise Arlésienne.
Portrait Patrick GAGEY – Passer of images and photographic curiosities
A veritable globe trotter, Patrick GAGEY patiently sharpened his eye and his artistic sensibility according to his encounters and discoveries. It was in his parents’ photo studio that he developed his photographer’s eye and naturally turned towards artistic studies.
After a Master in Cultural and Artistic Management (EAC.Paris), he is in turn, photographer, journalist and head of a photo department, exhibition curator, photo jury, director of cultural affairs and business consultancy … But it is above all as an informed collector and has unearthed photographic treasures that he finds here and there curiosities in auctions, fairs and private collections.
It is finally in Arles, capital of photography and source of inspiration, that he settled down. In a nod to the incredible discovery of the Mexican Suitcase, he puts down his “Arlésienne Suitcase” to share his discoveries and enrich your collections.
The Arlésienne Suitcase
Between gallery and cabinet of curiosities, “La Valise Arlésienne” reveals its photographic treasures. Out of this suitcase, these curiosities carefully selected by a discerning eye are promised to other travels. The Arlésienne suitcase offers vintage prints, large and folding cameras, daguerreotypes, unusual objects, witnesses of discoveries and advances in photography, but also images lost in search of a reinvented story or orphan collections.
Collector or simple heart stopper, it is the exhumed memory of photographic objects that will take a new start and continue their story.
La Valise Arlésienne invites you on a journey through time through the stories of photographic curiosities. A slow or quick break amid the “mirrors that remember” and other travel chambers.
