The documentary Elliott Erwitt – Silence Sounds Good directed by Adriana Lopez Sanfeliu premiered on July 5th during the Rencontres at the Théâtre municipal in Arles.
The director sent us this introduction:
Elliott Erwitt isn’t a man of many words, for this reason I have learned the pleasure to share beautiful silences.
These collection of images are a small document of many wonderful moments during this 43rd Edition of Les Rencontres d’Arles.
It is amazing that I was already speaking about Silence then…
it took time to find the Film title, we passed through:
– I have been Elliott Erwitt for quite a long time
– Before I croak
and we finally arrived to: Silence Sounds Good
Adriana Lopez Sanfeliu
Elliott Erwitt has spent his entire adult life taking photographs, of presidents, popes and movie stars, as well as regular people and their pets. His work is iconic in world culture while his life is largely unknown.
Elliott Erwitt – Silence sounds good is a quiet, intimate portrait of an artist at work, who values companionship of all kinds above idle conversation. His life’s work is a testament to the power of the image.
