The five nominators of the 2014 Discovery Award are photography experts from five continents who programme festivals and/or work for institutions.
Quentin Bajac, chief curator at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York presents Ilit Azoulay and Katharina Gaenssler.
Alexis Fabry, a curator specialising in Latin American photography and the founder of Toluca Editions in Paris presents Miguel Mitlag and Victor Robledo.
Bohnchang Koo, exhibition curator and photography professor at Kyungil University in Seoul, Korea presents Youngsoo Han and Kechun Zhang.
Wim Mélis, curator of the Noorderlicht Photography Foundation in the Netherlands presents Pieter ten Hoopen and Will Steacy.
Azu Nwagbogu, founder and director of the African Artist’s Foundation (AAF) in Lagos, Nigeria presents Kudzanai Chiurai and Patrick Willocq.

The Discovery Award is given to a photographer or an artist using photography whose work has recently been discovered or deserves to be so.
Every year since 2002, nominators invited by the Rencontres d’Arles each select two photographers in the running for this award, to present their work with personal exhibitions at the Parc des Ateliers. Professionals present during the Rencontres d’Arles opening week decide by vote who among the ten artists is the award winner, who  will receives €25,000 during an award ceremony at the Théâtre Antique.
