My creative practice has transitioned over the past several years from painting to photography with my formal training as a painter informing my most recent work in important ways. In early 2012, I began working collaboratively with a model in my Brooklyn studio to explore figurative imagery and narrative. Carefully choreographed motion and long exposures resulted at first in a series of “short stories” However, more recently, color and composition have come to the fore, and I am now in many ways, painting with my camera.
The images presented here are from two recent series:  “Pageant Play “, 2014, and  “In An Artists Studio “, 2014, both of which were developed in connection with my interest in the visual “cues ” that move a narrative forward. Last summer I self-published  “Pageant Play “, a limited edition photobook featuring several of these images, which was included in  “INFOCUS Juried Exhibition of Self-Published Photobooks” at the Phoenix Art Museum (2014).
