Galerie XII presents a group exhibition of contemporary photographers for The Photography Show 2026 presented by AIPAD. Located at Booth A2, the gallery presents the works of four European photographers whose unique visions explore memory, history, and the human experience: Marcel Bolomet, Sophie Zénon, Vincent Fournier and Paolo Ventura.
Marcel Bolomet (1905–2003)
A Swiss-born photojournalist and humanist, Marcel Bolomet was the first official photographer for the League of Nations and the United Nations. His lens captured defining moments of the 20th century, including the liberation of Paris and Mussolini’s death. Bolomet’s images are celebrated for their warmth, humor, and sensitivity, placing him alongside masters such as Kertész and Cartier-Bresson. His archive, now preserved by the Swiss Foundation for Photography, remains a testament to his enduring legacy.
Sophie Zénon (b. 1965)
French artist Sophie Zénon combines photography, archives, and mixed media to explore themes of memory, loss, and the passage of time. Her poetic and experimental approach draws on her background in history and ethnology, creating works that resonate with ritual and mystery. Exhibited in major institutions and held in prestigious collections, Zénon’s cycles—such as Haïkus mongols, In Case We Die, and Rémanences—invite viewers into a dialogue between body, landscape, and remembrance.
Paolo Ventura (b. 1968)
Italian artist Paolo Ventura is renowned for his meticulously constructed worlds, blending photography, painting, and set design. His narrative-driven works evoke nostalgia and dreamlike atmospheres, as seen in acclaimed series like Winter Stories and Short Stories. Exhibited internationally and featured in leading publications, Ventura’s art blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination, offering a cinematic exploration of memory and time.
Vincent Fournier (b. 1970)
Vincent Fournier is a French photographic artist whose work has been exploring imaginaries of the future for the past twenty years through the prism of science, technology, and fiction.
