AIPAD, unlike many other art fairs which are characterized by an overwhelming cacophony of visual stimulation, features carefully curated booths allows one to breathe and recognize which works are truly great and what is just eye-catching. With every AIPAD Fair there are photographs that stick with me. The two galleries this year were Gitterman Gallery for vintage works and Klampching Gallery for contemporary photographs. My absolute top pick was Minor White’s Beginnings, Frosted Window, Rochester, New York, 1962 at Gitterman Gallery.
Allison Wucher (American, b.1987) is the founder of Silverpoint Fine Art in New York. With degrees from RISD and the Courtauld Institute of Art in London, she has held positions at the Courtauld Gallery, Metropolitan Museums of Art, Swann and Waterhouse & Dodd. Ms. Wucher brings the perspective of Old Master works on paper to her appreciation of photography.
