From 26 September 2025 to 5 January 2026, Galerie Polomarco hosts the inaugural exhibition of ACTWALL, titled Ce qui nous regarde encore (What still concern us). Set in a 250 sqm space in Geneva’s Old Town, the exhibition brings together twenty-five photographers based in Switzerland, presenting around forty-five works. The exhibition is part of the Swiss Photomonth programme and has received support from the City of Geneva.
At a time when images proliferate at an unprecedented speed, the exhibition explores photography as an act of attention. What can the artist do in the face of the noise of the world and the many forms of forgetfulness? From documentary practices to the edges of fiction, the photographic works offer a tacit form of resistance: a glacier covered with tarpaulins, nocturnal light preventing plants from sleeping, a portrait frozen in the fabric of a past destined to disappear.
Each photographer acts as a watchful presence, revealing what remains in matter, bodies, energies and traces of the living. The photographs weave a fragmentary narrative made of signs, shadows and resurgences. They invite us to slow down, to look differently at what surrounds us, and to acknowledge a presence that calls for our gaze. As Walter Benjamin wrote, certain photographs retain an aura that connects us to the world and to its memory.
A collective project
Conceived from the outset as a collective project, the exhibition brings together all the artists supported by ACTWALL since its creation in 2024. This first edition reflects the diversity of profiles: the association aims to support both established artists with institutional recognition and promising emerging talents whose artistic potential is still evolving and ready to assert itself on the art scene. ACTWALL also places particular emphasis on encouraging diversity in artistic creation by supporting self-taught photographers whose strong, distinctive approaches are often marginalised within the traditional photography circuit.
Founded in 2024 in Geneva, ACTWALL is a non-profit initiative launched by the Geneva-based association ACT. As Switzerland’s first digital platform dedicated to the acquisition of works by photographers established on Swiss territory, ACTWALL makes works available for acquisition visible again and reconnects artists with buyers, whether private collectors or institutions.
More than 98% of the photographic works in Switzerland are invisible to acquisition. In response to this reality, ACTWALL is committed to identifying and promoting photographers established in Switzerland who are recognised within the institutional world, yet whose works remain surprisingly difficult to acquire. The platform brings together curation, publishing and tailored support to structure collections and make these works accessible.
ACTWALL advocates acquisition as the most direct way to support artists. Its approach is grounded in ethical, sustainable and collaborative principles: fair remuneration for artists, careful attention to local production conditions, and transparent partnerships. Each artist is considered an equal partner. Through exhibitions, curated selections and personalised support, ACTWALL encourages artistic excellence while maintaining a strong commitment to the Swiss artistic community, with particular attention to under-represented voices.
