Hangar is becoming the flagship of photography in Brussels, together with the Fondation A Stichting. For more than six weeks, Brussels is putting itself on the map as the European capital of photography. With 52 official locations and more than 100 photographers, the offering is overwhelming.
Is the quality consistent? No, of course there are some lesser displays, but that makes you enjoy the top ones all the more. Below is a selection of 18 exhibitions that “we recommend, because you should definitely see them,” or maybe not. To bring some order to things, Hangar, Hangar Gallery, and Place du Châtelain/ Kasteleinsplaats are all in the same spot. The Rivoli galleries (Berlin Brussels Projects, Entry, In-DEPENDANCE, Michèle Schoonjans, Vue & Zwart huis) and Box & Stieglitz can also be found next to each other. And, if time is of the essence, you will find a second list of the 18 locations listed by closing date.
As we mentioned in a previous post, you can visit the umbrella website, because not all initiators have the same opening and closing hours, or are open on the same days:

A map that you can consult here is obviously useful for planning your visit, or you can take the handy brochure with you at the first location you visit.
