Lago senza fondo

Lago senza fondo (Bottomless Lake) is a place that resists measurement.
A cavity of water that seems endless, where light disappears and depth escapes.

“Who could ever fathom the depth of the abyss?” — Ecclesiastes

This work begins there: with a natural image, already uneasy.
The photographs move along that threshold where the visible becomes uncertain.
They do not explain, do not narrate.
They trace open paths, oscillating between presence and void.

“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear,
and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” — H. P. Lovecraft

Lago senza fondo is a passage.
A slow descent into a space we may know — but only in dreams, or nightmares.
Each image is a threshold. Each image, perhaps, is also a loss.

“Every film I make is a film about my own death.” — David Cronenberg
