“Up Close & Personal: The Most Intimate Photographs from Magnum” is an invitation to consider the role of intimacy, as interpreted by over fifty Magnum photographers .
Personal and intimate work has always been at the heart of Magnum photographers’ practices: whether closely documenting human stories or turning the camera to the intimacies of home and body, this series speaks of the role that closeness plays in the acts of witnessing and picture-making.
Defining intimacy through singular states of emotional, intellectual, or physical proximity, this Square Print Sale celebrates the connections between humans and documented by photography.
Each image, a meditation on the delicate space between public and private, is accompanied by a quote from the artist, contextu- alising their work with a personal perspective on the image and on photography.
