Today’s edition is dedicated to The Photography Show presented by AIPAD, the longest-running fair dedicated to photography in the world. It takes place in New York from April 22 to 26, 2026 at the Park Avenue Armory. Featuring exhibitors from around the world bringing historically significant and formally innovative work, the fair will continue The Photography Show’s longstanding commitment to deepening the collective understanding of photography’s history while spotlighting some of the most dynamic examples of contemporary experimentation. Among the large numbers of exhibitors, we selected a few of our favourites for this edition.
The Photography Show showcases exceptional presentations by members of the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD), along with guest exhibitors and galleries new to the fair. The 2026 iteration of the fair marks the solidification of AIPAD’s status as the market leader in photography and the crystallization of The Photography Show as a benchmark event for the exhibition of photography. After several years of refinement, The Photography Show has now reached its optimal size, one that allows it to most effectively shape, support and advocate for the field of photography in all of its historical and contemporary permutations.
AIPAD welcomes new exhibitors, such as Galerie Sophie Scheidecker, Paris, France; Ruiz-Healy Art, New York, NY and San Antonio, TX and Leica Gallery New York, alongside those returning to the fair, such as Augusta Edwards Fine Art, London, United Kingdom; IBASHO, Antwerp, Belgium in partnership with their new gallery IN-DEPENDANCE by IBASHO; ALTA from Andorra will take two exhibition spaces; and Rolf Art, Buenos Aires, Argentina. A defining feature of this year’s fair is the increasing gender parity among new and established galleries alike, with over a third of all exhibitors being women-led, founded or both. Regularly overlapping with this growth and diversification in exhibitors is the prominence of Latin American photography in the programs of member galleries, something that will be reflected in the programming of the fair.
AIPAD welcomes back Lead Cultural Partner MUUS, whose partnership will allow The Photography Show to feature an eclectic mix of illuminating and celebratory events. Four days of AIPAD Talks, hosted by thought leaders in the arts and culture space, will be accompanied by insightful walkthroughs and educational events. The celebration of the prestigious AIPAD Award, presented annually to a pioneer in the community, recognizing them for changing the ways we perceive photography, as well as the AIPAD Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring the legacies of photographic icons, will take place during the new Opening Night Party on Wednesday, April 22. For the first time, the Aperture Portfolio Prize will be awarded at the fair, with all five finalists participating in a group exhibition organized by Aperture at AIPAD as well as an AIPAD Talks program featuring the finalists.
FOCAL POINT SECTOR
AIPAD introduces Focal Point, a new solo presentation sector for The Photography Show 2026. Focal Point will highlight galleries and artists focused on lens-based photography and is designed to showcase how artists have historically expanded our collective understanding of what photography is and how contemporary artists continue to show us what it can become. Designed in a dynamic layout to create fresh sightlines and conversations by Oficina.la, the renowned woman-led Mexico City and Los Angeles based architecture firm, Focal Point is a revelatory way to exhibit powerful ideas and artistic practices in the iconic Park Avenue Armory. By promoting singular and vital voices in an inventive way, AIPAD affirms its commitment to supporting the next generation of galleries and photographers, while offering collectors, curators and the public the opportunity to discover the individuals who are shaping both the past, present and the future of the medium.
