The (“strange) title “ROYGBIV” is an acronym/ That of the colors of the rainbow, an optical phenomenon that has appeared several times in the landscapes during the many summers. The colors of the arc depend on the position of the viewer. But the composition changes with each step.
But the title of the exhibition illustrates a kind of look back with the inner eye: the human visual perception finds its source in this central tool. And this, “to remember what it was like when the world always seemed right, especially in its fleeting ephemerality.” specifies Lina Morawetz.
This photographic project ran from 2016 to 2022). It became the result of a continuous recording of a feeling: namely the search for personal traces of time.
So much so that this series deals with childhood and the rediscovery of the place we left behind. Vincent Forstenlechner tries to decipher what it means to feel connected and at the same time increasingly distant from the formative period of childhood.
The personal connection is woven from a set of memories and hopes, but the visual surface remains seemingly unchanged.
ROYGBIV therefore explores the ambivalent connection with the landscapes and personalities that are part of the reality of life in the Salzburg region. Vincent Forstenlechner’s photography is used to describe the imaginary world of memory and to record how the idea changes with each visit.
