This year, the association Gens d’Images is celebrating its 60th anniversary. It was back in 1954 that Jacques-Henri Lartigue and Raymond Grosset created Gens d’Images to bring together everyone involved with the still and moving image to discuss their profession, their experience and their research.
“Comparing ideas, stirring desire and wonder, encouraging knowledge for a better distribution of the medium in all its diversity. That is the mission of Gens d’Images.”
Soon the annual Prix Niépce and Prix Nadar were created to reward the work of a photographer and the best photography book published in France.
Today, Gens d’Images continues its work on behalf of photography. A total of 60 photographers, past winners and friends of the association are offering their support by donating a print for an auction to be held on October 11th, 2014, at 15:00 at the Hôtel de Sauroy, organized by Pierre Cornette de Saint-Cyr. The catalogue is already available online, and the photographs will be exhibited on Friday, October 10th, from 10am to 8pm and Saturday, October 11th, from 10am to 1pm
