Jules-Édouard Moustic is the Groland Présipauty Television News lead-presenter, « a permanent crease under the iron of the television machine » and he is also keen on photography. We shall take the opportunity provided by the celebration of Groland’s twentieth anniversary at the Musée International des Arts Modestes (International Museum of the Modest Arts in Sete) to exhibit the artist’s work. For ImageSingulières, it is a surprising contribution, to this middle-brow art form described by Bourdieu.
Jules-Édouard, who would have liked to make a career out of photography, has «prefered, instead, to cultivate it as a passion ». Indeed he has produced pseudo-naive portraits-montages, and the New Yorkers series in particular, exhibited in the MoMA, testify that our man has more than one feather in his cap. We know him as a public entertainer, a music fan, a lover of the Basque country and we will now discover his talent as a photographer.
Jules-Édouard Moustic, whose real name is Christian Borde, was born in October 1951 in Antony (France). In 1987 he left RMC (Radio Monté Carlo) to join Les Nuls (a French comedy program produced by Canal +). For a few years, he wrote sketches for them as well as for another Canal+ satirical program Les guignols de l’info, a French equivalent to the UK Spitting Image. Then in 1990, he became the presenter of a new Canal + series called Groland set in an imaginary and wacky principality which was certainly inspired by The Principality of Monaco where he lived for almost twelve years. Jules-Édouard Moustic also presents the very eclectic Web radio program called “I have a dream”.
