Published by Setanta Books, Winter Light by Riccardo Fregoso gathers a seven-year photographic research, carried out between 2018 and 2025. A work that explores the possibility of a photographic Magical Realism: starting from the ordinary, from the tangible, to transcend it and let another dimension surface.
Shot entirely on film, the photographs are accompanied by an original text by Italian writer Francesco Pacifico.
After Adriatico (Kerber Verlag, 2022), conceived as a geographical and auroral diary, Riccardo Fregoso now turns his lens towards an intimate and domestic sphere. In these images, people, objects and interiors take on a plastic, hieratic, even classical presence.
Winter light leads the gaze: discreet, filtered through curtains and windows, it settles on furniture, surfaces, bodies. It reveals details, touches the skin, warms for an instant the cold air.
